Product Deck: Distribution Channels vs. Special Channels/Limited Distribution

When building or updating your Product Deck, you'll see Distribution Channels and, for some products, Special Channels. Understanding the difference will help you identify how a product is distributed and whether it has any distribution restrictions.
Distribution Channel
The Distribution Channel appears in the right-most column and identifies the product's primary distribution type. These colors are standardized throughout the platform:

- Independent Agent – Dark Slate
- Fee-Based – Red
- Broker-Dealer – Blue
- Bank – Green
- Career Agents – Purple/Magenta
Special Channel
The Special Channel appears to the left of the Distribution Channel and is only displayed when a product has a distribution restriction.
A Special Channel identifies the specific distribution partner (such as an IMO, broker-dealer, bank, or other distribution organization) through which the product is offered.

Color Coding
- Distribution Channel colors are standardized and always represent the same category.
- Special Channel colors are for visual identification only and are not standardized. Always rely on the Special Channel name, not its color.
⚠️ Limited Distribution Notice: If a product has a Special Channel (Limited Distribution), pay close attention when building your Product Deck. We do not automatically select or exclude these products because we don't know which distribution agreements, contracts, or appointments you have. Before adding these products, confirm with your agency, IMO, broker-dealer, bank, or carrier that you're authorized to sell them.
