The Index Tracker Tool - What is it? How to use it?

The Index Tracker shows raw index performance across multiple time frames, lets you filter by asset class and volatility, and shows which annuity strategies use each index.

Getting Started

1. Click Calculators in the blue menu, then Index Tracker. Confirm the client details (state, premium) at the top of the page.

2. Search by index name or ticker and press Enter. Clear the field and press Enter to reset.

3. Choose Fixed Index or Index-Linked (RILA) as the annuity type.

4. Refine with optional filters:

·       Index Type: bonds, commodities, equities, multi-asset or other.  (Narrow to the asset class that fits the client's goals, such as equities for growth or bonds for stability.)

·       Volatility Target: show only indices with a chosen target (for example 10%). (Find indices that aim for a steady ride, since lower volatility usually means smoother, less extreme returns.)

·       Show indices without accounts: adds indices not currently used by any product. (See indices no current product uses, to spot emerging options or answer questions about one a client heard of.)

·       Live index data only: removes back-tested (hypothetical) history. (Exclude back-tested (hypothetical) history so you only quote returns the index actually delivered.)

·       Rate lock-in: shows only indices tied to accounts whose caps or participation rates are fixed for the whole surrender period. (Find indices whose accounts guarantee caps or participation rates for the whole surrender period, protecting the client from later rate cuts.)

The Results

Columns show YTD, 1, 3, 5 and 10 year, the two most recent calendar years, and Since Inception (annualized). Click any column header, including Index Type and Volatility Target, to sort.

For a custom period, enter start and end dates in the Custom Date Range filter and click Apply. The last column then shows the annualized return for that range. Click Clear to return to inception data.

Downloading a Report

Click Download Report to get a PDF of the results on screen. To limit it, tighten the filters or click to select only the indices you want, then click Download Report again. The PDF will include only the selected indices.
