INDEX TRACKER – COMPLETE USER GUIDE (Everything Included)

Annuities Genius – Live Raw Index Data Tool

Overview

The Index Tracker is a tool inside Annuities Genius that displays live, raw index performance data for every index used in annuity strategies across all products on the platform.

This gives you a transparent, data-based view of how indexes have performed over multiple time periods so you can build stronger allocations and communicate more effectively with clients.

Agents use this tool to:

  • Compare index strength
  • Understand market behavior
  • Select the most suitable indexes for allocations
  • Validate strategies using real historical data
  • Prepare for illustrations or case design

How to Access the Index Tracker

Navigate to:

Blue Menu → Calculators → Accumulation → Index Tracker

At the top of the page, you’ll see:

  • Your selected client
  • Or “Valued Client” if none is selected

To switch clients:

  • Click Switch Case

You can also manually edit the client fields shown at the top.

Understanding the Index Table

The central table displays all annuity-relevant indexes and their performance.

Each row includes:

  • Index Name
  • Year-to-Date (YTD) Return
  • 1-Year Return
  • 3-Year Return
  • 5-Year Return
  • 10-Year Return
  • Last Two Calendar Years
  • Since Inception Return

    (or your custom date range)

Sorting Data

Click any column header:

  • First click = highest → lowest
  • Second click = lowest → highest

Links Under Each Index

Every index includes two helpful links:

1. Blue Ticker Symbol

Takes you to the index provider’s official website.

Opens the Annuities Genius Performance Analyzer, which shows:

  • How annuity strategies using that index perform
  • Rate limits (caps, participation rates, spreads)
  • Crediting method details
  • Guaranteed vs non-guaranteed mechanics

Filtering Options (Left Panel)

Quick Filter

  • Search by index name
  • Search by ticker symbol

Annuity Type Filters

Choose to show:

  • FIA Indexes
  • RILA Indexes

Additional Filters - check the box or click on the (i) for more info

  1. Include Indexes With No Associated Accounts
    • Shows Indexes that are currently not being utilized in any annuity products but are active in live trading in the market.

      Live Index Data Only

    • Shows only real historical data.
    • Removes all back-tested or simulated numbers.

      Rate Lock-In Only

    • Shows indexes linked to annuity strategies that provide guaranteed participation rates for the full surrender charge period.
    • Example: A NASDAQ index offering a locked participation rate for 5 years.

Custom Date Range Feature

You can select your own timeframe to view returns for a specific period.

Example:

  • Start: June 2018
  • End: June 2024

Click Apply to update the table.

The final column now shows returns for your custom time range instead of “Since Inception.”

Tip: Hover over any column header for definitions.

Why do some indexes show a later start date even though earlier data is available?

The later date reflects the actual inception of the index. Any data shown before that point is backtested (hypothetical) data created by the index provider to estimate how the index might have performed prior to its official launch.

How Agents Commonly Use This Tool

✔ Pre-Allocation

Identify the strongest or most stable indexes before deciding how to diversify client funds.

✔ Client Conversations

Explain index movement using real, up-to-date data rather than carrier marketing materials.

✔ RILA vs FIA Comparisons

Quickly see how different index families behave across different time horizons.

✔ Compliance-Friendly Transparency

You’re showing real market performance, not projections, which helps build trust.

✔ Case Preparation

Use this tool to prepare for illustrations, case summaries, or allocation planning.

Tips for New Agents

  • Use the Index Tracker first, before choosing allocations
  • Pair it with the Performance Analyzer to see strategy-level performance
  • Remember: The Index Tracker shows index performance, not crediting results
  • Great for visual learners and clients who want real numbers

Example 1 — Yahoo Finance

If you’ve ever gone on Yahoo Finance to look up:

  • how the S&P 500 is doing,
  • how much it went up this year,
  • how it performed over the last 5 years,

…that’s exactly what the Index Tracker does — but only for the indexes used inside annuities.

It’s basically:

Yahoo Finance, but organized specifically for annuity indexes.

Example 2 — iPhone Stocks App

If you’ve ever opened the Stocks app on your iPhone and it shows you:

  • today’s change
  • 1-year performance
  • charts
  • raw numbers

…the Index Tracker does the same thing, but:

✔ for ALL the annuity indexes

✔ in one place

✔ with the option to sort them and compare them side by side

So it’s like the Stocks app, but built specifically for annuity advisors.

The Simple Purpose

The Index Tracker answers the question:

“How are the indexes inside annuities actually performing in real life?”

Just like checking a stock, but for annuity indexes.

Why You Use It

Because instead of guessing which index is strong right now, the tool literally shows you:

  • which ones are doing well
  • which ones are trending down
  • which ones performed consistently over 5–10 years
  • which ones might be better choices for your client’s allocation

Easiest Analogy

It’s like checking the weather before leaving the house.

You look at real numbers so you can make the right decision.

Instead of picking indexes blindly, you check their “weather report” — the Index Tracker.
